Khaleej Times and Arabianbusiness have reported on the change in the rules for visas that come into effect on July 29.

The main changes are that hotels and travel agencies can apply for visas for all nationalities.

The 34 countries that previously obtained 60 day free visas on entry will receive a 30–day visa with 100 dirham fee.

Sponsorshop visas for 30 or 90 days are intended for family use.

Visa runs to neighbouring countries is stopped with people having to return to their home country to apply for a new visa.

If you are unclear on your visa situation please refer to the Department of Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) webpage.
