The Geography and Urban Planning Program-me of Qatar University’s Department of Humanities opened its two-day symposium on ‘Urban Planning in Qatar: Teaching & Applications’ yesterday.
The event also includes a graduation exhibition of urban planning designs and models from the Programme’s first female graduating class that has 19 students.
The event brought together stakeholders in the field of urban planning to discuss the synergy between the teaching and research approaches of Qatar University (QU) and the public and private sectors’ practice of planning methods and techniques.
In his opening address, symposium chair Prof Yasser al-Najjar said the event would serve to build co-operation with the relevant agencies to reform the academic programme to fit with market demand and the needs of Qatari society.
