It had to happen. The world’s tallest tower was always going to attract the world’s BASE jumping community. A British man is up in court this week after jumping from the 150th floor of the Burj Dubai in April. A Frenchman was caught attempting to make the jump earlier this year.

Emaar is seeking damages of Dh 20,000. The damage to its security reputation tempered by the fact the jumper’s video will make for a great piece of viral marketing when it finally uploads on YouTube.

It might also focus Dubai’s mind on creating legal thrills from its impressive new skyline. There is no shortage of inspiration.

The jump platform at Macau Tower is a full 233 meters high. Hardy jumpers who make the leap experience about 4 to 5 seconds of freefall—at speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour—before stretching the 50 meter bungee cord nearly four times its unloaded length and rebounding skywards. For this they pay $135.
