Abu Dhabi has announced a new initiative called Estidama, for developing sustainable buildings and communities in the emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), Abu Dhabi Municipality and Masdar are part of this initiative.

Estidama, which means ‘sustainability’ in Arabic, is an integrated program to devise guidelines and regulations for sustainable (green) design, operation and maintenance of all types of buildings and communities within the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
