The first plans for Abu Dhabi’s new downtown financial district were unveiled by developers Mubadala Development and John Buck International of the US.
The Sowwah Square district, situated on Sowwah Island between Reem Island and the main island of Abu Dhabi, will be the core of a new business and financial centre for the emirate and a prominent commercial district for the country.
The project will house the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange as its main tenant and include four high-rise office towers, hotels, restaurants and shopping – all built on 570,000 square metres with views of the Gulf.
