Its that time of year when ASLA bestowes its awards on the great work that a variety of landscape architects from around the world have designed, slaved over and brought to fruition with the help of their clients.
This years awards have been awarded to not only those from the USA but also from Lebanon, China, Mexico, Canada. It good to see that the profession can produce high-quality award winning work in a variety of design languages and styles whilst incorporating new elements of design and technology.
In General Design Category, Award of Excellence was won by Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd for Lurie Garden in Millennium Park, Chicago, USA.
The Lurie Garden’s design concept responds to the rich history of the site and the city by conceptualizing and expressing the present and future of Chicago. The contrasting eras of Chicago’s landscape are made evident in sculpted landform and plant growth. – Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd
