The United Arab Emirates (UAE) plans to strictly enforce environmental regulations to ensure sustainable development, the UAE environment minister has said.

Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd said on Monday that the UAE had introduced a set of legislations to ward off negative effects of industrial growth on environment, WAM news agency reported on Tuesday.

”Environmental regulations are needed to strike a balance between development requirements and environmental considerations,” the minister told a training workshop on environmental inspection held by the Federal Environment Agency in cooperation with UN regional office for West Asia.
